Pleasure in the job
puts perfection in the work
The following paragraphs contain
some of my teaching philosophy. If you
read on, I think you'll see that philosophy
reflected in the testimonials I've accumulated.
I selected this slogan to head my web
site because I am convinced the majority
of us, including myself, think this way.
I know when I like the job I'm doing it
reflects positively in my attitude, my
work ethic, and my productivity. It's
catchy. My job is to make you a better
golfer. I trust our sessions together
will be fun and rewarding. I will do everything
I can so that you too will catch the spirit
of this great game.
Motivation
The key to becoming a better golfer
is self motivation and work ethic. My
instruction alone will not be enough.
Oftentimes, after a lesson, I find my
students return the next week having not
practiced. As with everything else in
life, you get out of it what you put into
it. Be and stay motivated. You will improve
if you put in the effort. You can be assured
that I'll do everything I can to keep
you motivated.
Knowledge
It's hard to figure out what to
do when you are not sure why you are doing
this. Much of playing golf is being able
to self analyze. Most golfers do not understand
swing concepts or why they do what they
do end to end. These are the guys at that
beat balls at the driving range, but never
improve. My job is impart a solid understanding
of the swing so that when you are practicing,
you know why you are hitting both bad
and good shots.
Perfect Practice
Dave Pelz has this saying, practice
does not make perfect, practice makes
permanent. This would imply that perfect
practice would make permanently perfect.
In my lessons with you we'll also establish
a process to ensure that you practice
as perfect as you can to make your swing
as permanently perfect as you can make
it.
Confidence
Given a good knowledge base, the
ability to self analyze, a perfect practice
regiment, and the motivation, consistency
and confidence will come. It's a iterative
process. That is, the more you know, the
more you'll want to know, the better your
practice becomes, the better the results,
and the more you are motivated. You are
more confident and consistent. The cycle
continues.
